Villa Damecuta

Villa Damecuta This is one the 12 villas that the Emperor Tiberius had built in Capri in first century A.D. It was devastated by volcanic rain of Vesuvius. A cylindrical tower was added to the east side during the Middle Ages (12th century) as a defense against pirate attacks that characterised this period. Further attacks followed by Bourbon and later French troops. The ruins were discovered during the excavations between 1937 and 1948 and they are clearly visible.
